"Peppa, a young anthropomorphic girl pig"

Although Elanor couldn't resist using Wikipedia's very serious and adult-sounding description of the children's character Peppa Pig to title this post, this cake was all about fulfilling 3-year-old "K"'s birthday cake requests. Chocolate cake? Check. Peppa Pig theme? Check. Favourite colors red and green? Check.

Of course, there's always room for detailing that might not be readily noticed by the recipient but that brings extra pleasure to the decorator and, we hope, a special touch to the cake. Here, a consistent geometric shape was used to create a unifying border that, with a simple of change of icing color, evoked both flowers of the landscape and clouds of the sky.

But we're veering into grown-up-speak again. It's time to wave goodbye to Peppa Pig as she's packed up to go to the party.

"Her adventures always end happily with loud snorts of laughter." We hope "K"'s birthday ended the same way!

(Baker and decorator Elanor layered the chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and completed the scene with rolled fondant.)
